Dickerson Mortuary announces the passing of Mrs. Cecilia Cummings (former 1st Lady) who transitioned on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The family of Mrs. Ceclia Cummings invites you to attend her celebration of life services on Saturday, July 11, 2026 @ 11:00 am at New Zion RMUE Church 4607 Dorsey Ave., Charleston, SC. 29405. Interment: Carolina Memorial Gardens
Mrs. Cummings was preceded in death by her husband Pastor Joseph Cummings, Sr., her parents; Isaac Chisolm Swinton, Sr. and Sarah Chisolm, siblings Charles Swinton, Eloise Swinton, James Swinton she is survived by her children Phyllis Ann Singleton, Joseph Irvin Cummings, Jr., (Barbara), Lowell Gordon Cummings (Fredia), and Kenneth Levy Cummings (Henrietta) and her brother Isaac Swinton, Jr., a host of grands, great grands, nephews, nieces, and other relatives.
Viewing for Mrs. Cummings will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dickerson Mortuary, LLC., Ollie M. Dickerson Memorial Chapel) 4700 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC., 29405
