Melvin "Bird" Vanderhorst

The family of Mr. Melvin Vanderhorst invites you to attend his celebration of life graveside services which will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, 1:00 PM at Carolina Memorial Park 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29405.

Mr. Vanderhorst was preceded in death by his parents; William Vanderhorst and Wilhelmenia Trapier Vanderhorst, his siblings; a child at birth, Mildred Trapier, and Jacqueline Montgomery. He is survived by his devoted wife; Felicia Vanderhorst, his children; Evangeline Simmons of Tampa, FL, Prudence Vanderhorst of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Abdul-Latif Mohammed of Texas, Kia Rakestraw of Detroit MI, Antonio Law of Charleston, SC, and Monique Heyward(Shay) of Atlanta, GA, two bonus children; Kashmir Williams and DeMarcus White both of Charleston, SC, his siblings; Robert Trapier, William Vanderhorst, Henry Vanderhorst, Annette Vanderhorst, Lonnie Vanderhorst, Zelpha Vanderhorst, Brenda(Donald) Robinson. Sherald Vanderhorst, LaVerne V. (Michael) Robinson, JoAnne Vanderhorst, and Debra Moore, twenty-two grandchildren; two bonus granddaughters; ten great grandchildren; mother-in-law; Christina Dubose; father-in-law; Anthony Simmons; five brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing for Mr. Vanderhorst will be held on Friday, January 14, 2022, from 4:00PM - 7:00PM at Ollie M. Dickerson Memorial Chapel. Due to COVID 19 protocols masks and social distancing are required. NO SITTING public walk-thru.
