Thomasina Greene

November 12, 1948 — March 22, 2021

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”(2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV) Thomasina Brooks Greene, born on November 12, 1948, departed this Life at her home on March 22, 2021. She was surrounded by her beloved family and will be greatly missed, as she brought so much love, wisdom, and joy to everyone who knew her. Thomasina was born the 3rd child of 13 children to the late Thomas Brooks, Jr. and Hester Louise Lane Brooks. She graduated from Ebenezer High School in Dalzell, SC, Class of 1966. She spent the majority of her career working as a teacher at Discovery School in Charleston, SC, where she was affectionately known as “Mrs. Tomi.” She had such a encompassing spirit that every child who encountered her would not want to leave her, even when his/her parent came to pick him/her up at the end of the day. She was a woman of strong silent strength and children, were her passion. She was always surrounded by children and they loved her immensely! Matthew 18:1-5 states, “At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the
greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall
receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.” What a befitting scripture because of how she cherished little children. Thomasina was married to William Alexander Greene since 1968. Three children were born from this union: Rickey Greene, Charleston, SC; Sherrilyn Greene-Gethers, Jacksonville, FL, and Tamerlyn (Delmar) Greene-Minor, Rock Hill, SC. Her tender heart and gentle spirit will continue to be embraced by her grandchildren: Dominique Greene-Sanders, Jontel Gethers. Jasmine Greene, Rickey Greene Jr., Kayla Greene, Autumn Greene, and Kendall Greene; and her 12 siblings: Emily Davis, Pauline Miller, Marie Brooks, Leland Brooks, Eugene Brooks, and Vernon Brooks of Sumter; Karen (Timothy) Smith, Sumter; Deborah (Sam) Williams, of Michigan; Mary (John) Brooks-Brown and Konnie Stamps of NC; Benjamin (Theresa) Brooks, Sr., Maryland; and Patricia Brooks, Virginia. Also, left to cherish her memories are her mother--in-law Albertha Hunter; brothers-in-law Larry (Bernadette) Hunter; Horace (Linda) Hunter: Lamar (Deborah) Hunter; sisters-in-law Ann (Earl) Creagh; Pat (James) Bailey; Debbie (Dexter) Noble; Adriene Hunter-Simmons, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. (Proverbs 31:25 KJV) The family has entrusted Dickerson Mortuary of North Charleston, SC with the arrangements. A Memorial Service will be held for Thomasina Greene, however, due to Covid-19 restrictions, it will be a private memorial service. A Livestream of the service can be viewed via https://www.facebook.com/Dickersonmortuary/ beginning at 2p.m. on April 2, 2021.
