About Us

Dickerson Mortuary, LLC is a full -service mortuary with an array of amenities to assist families in their time of need . We are known for our signature white cortage flower car (pictured), masterpiece hearses, presidential limousines, and formal uniforms because we believe in servicing our families with dignity. We also provide our families with professionals who are compassionate and detail-oriented. We embrace our families throughout the burial process while navigating them smoothly though their end of life decision making process.

We began our journey in July 1987 when Darryl Dickerson was introduced to funeral service at age 12 at Harleston -Boags Funeral Home Inc. located in Charleston SC. Upon graduating for Burke High School, he enrolled immediately at Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.

After graduating he returned to Charleston and served a two-year apprenticeship back to Harleston- Boags Funeral Home Inc. and was licensed in 1995 at the tender age of 20 , an accomplishment that made him the youngest licensed mortician in the state of South Carolina at that time.

In 1995, Darryl was hired by Fielding Home For Funerals in Charleston, SC where he became chief embalmer. He became the Office Manager for W.M. Smith -McNeal Funeral Home, Inc. in January 2003 and then was promoted to Assistant Manager in 2004. He held that position until August 2008.

Mr. Dickerson was always determined to have his own business, so on August 3, 2009, he opened Dickerson Mortuary, LLC. His driving force has been a pearl of wisdom that his father taught him "Treat people fair and it's only one way, the right way."
